(NOTE: I've updated the chart in another design to take events of 18-19 December into account: [link])
The idea for this design actually woke me up. I flashed on the old "enemy identification charts" that were used in WW1 and WW2. Clearly the CIA, NSA and DHS will need something similar in 2012 with NDAA and all these wonderful new laws.
So this design starts with the ironic - that any normal person can be considered a terrorist. As you scan down it goes to the sardonic, then radical, then seditious, and finally ending with the absurd (with a shout out to the "Aquapation" on Lake Merritt). And even some of the absurd isn't that absurd - unfortunately.
Truth is, people like Paul Revere and Ben Franklin would be considered terrorists by the new standards. And the British considered the Colonial soldiers to be terrorists in 1776 because of their tactics - much as our current regime seems to view anyone with a dissenting view.
I tried to keep enough humor (Charlie Sheen ... winning!) in this to make it enjoyable and to balance the grim reality of what's happening.
Christ, what the hell is happening within the walls of the Capitol Building? Has Mein Kampf become standard reading material. Do our congress-people now take pointers from Pol Pot? At this rate we'll be a totalitarian wonderland that would even make North Korea and China blush.
The people who run our nation seriously do need to be struck across their collective wrinkly white muppet faces with tire-irons, until something that is a vague semblance of mental cognition is instilled in their balding, shiny heads .
What is even more shocking is that this is happening on the watch of a Democratic President. You expect it from the elephants, not the kind, sandal-wearing donkeys. The Republicans must have something on Obama to get him to allow this to pass - some picture of him felating a Schanuzer out behind the Rose Garden.
I think that a lot of politics is dealt with this way, you can't control everyone with money. The three great manipulators are: Money, force, and blackmail. But I don't believe for a second that there is anything different about democrats. They are all part of the same incestuous pool of self-serving wanna-be tyrants...
What we're seeing is that Democrats and Republicans are not functionally different. Different in word, yes, but not different in deed, as both are owned by the same corporate interests. Both act in support of *anything* that strengthens corporate and state power, despite protestations to the contrary. There's a reason that, on every possible issue, every manufactured political crisis that arises, the Democrats put up a token resistance to Republicans, but fold every single time. There is one major political party in the US, and it is the Capitalist Party. Democrats are the center-right wing of this party, Republicans the far-right wing.

i love it. the humour highlights the grim reality of the occupy movement and btw the qoute is just amazing
